If you own a 2011-and-newer Ford Super Duty with the 6.7L Powerstroke, the high-pressure fuel pump is one of the components you have probably read about. This post looks at one option for it: the S&S Diesel Motorsport CP4 to DCR Pump Conversion (S&S Model 6.7F-DCR-1), a replacement for the factory CP4 pump.
For background on the factory pump itself, see our CP4 guide for 6.7L Powerstroke owners.
What it is
According to S&S, this is a two-piston DCR pump co-developed by S&S Diesel Motorsport and PurePower Technologies, the aftermarket division of Stanadyne. It is designed as a plug-and-play replacement for the CP4 with OE fit and function.
What S&S says about the design
The manufacturer lists these features:
- Patented Eccentric Drive pumping technology
- Pressure-lubricated cam and bushings
- Corrosion-resistant FCA
- Displacement of 1,250 mm3 per revolution, which S&S describes as CP4.2 + 25%
- Compatibility with biofuel and low-lubricity fuel
S&S also states that the conversion does not require any ECU calibration.
Fitment, compliance and warranty
S&S lists fitment for 2011 to 2024 Ford F250-F750 diesel trucks with the 6.7L Power Stroke. The company says the pump is CARB compliant (EO# D-756-7) and SEMA certified emissions compliant (SC-SDM01-0034). It is covered by a two-year, unlimited-mile warranty according to S&S.
Who it may suit
This conversion is aimed at owners who want to replace the factory CP4 with a pump built to the same fit and function, whether that is before or after a pump issue, without needing a tune. S&S positions it as a more durable alternative, and that is the manufacturer's claim rather than ours. If you are comparing fuel system options, you may also want to look at our Gen2.1 CP4 Disaster Prevention Kit and the RCD Performance CPX Injection Pump, which take different approaches to the same part of the fuel system.
Choosing the right one
This listing has a single version, so there are no options to pick. The main thing to check is your truck: confirm your year, model and engine against the fitment information on the product page before ordering.
